Badrinath Dham, Uttarakhand, India- A complete Travel Guide

The 25KM drive from Gobindghat to Badrinath is one of the mesmerizing drive ever. The smoky clouds ready you to come down to embrace you, steep-edged mountains seems to be falling on you, and silver pearls like water from mountains which surely make you enchanted by its beauty. Just because of time constraint, I adhered to my seat otherwise I would have jumped out from the car and loved to stare at this view for hours and hours.

Badrivishal or Badrinath in Uttarakhand is a Religious Shrine of Lord Vishnu. Badrinath is one of most religious pilgrimage in Char Dham Yatra. It is Located in Chamoli District of Uttarakhand at an elevation of 3,133 mts. It is a picturesque place on the banks of the river Alaknanda which flows downstream and joins the river Bhagreerathi to form the river Ganga at Devprayag.

On Tuesday, due to heavy rainfall and since we have reached late at Gobindghat (entry to Hemkunt Sahib is restricted after 2:00 PM), we planned for Badrinath Darshan. The other reasons to chose Badrinath over Hemkunt Sahib was as there is hardly any trek. In Badrinath, Uttarakhand you can go upto nearby main mandir with your car/ vehicle. We thought and I was the firm believer that after Hemkunt sahib trek will not feel like going anywhere else.

Therefore, we started for Badrinath on Tuesday, and believe me, that 25KMs drive from Gobinghat to Badrinath made you see the most beautiful mountains. Also, only proficient drivers are able to track this road. There was everything from Skyscraper Mountains, Natural springs, and beautiful fauna. This 25KMs drive will take about one or more hour but totally mesmerizing.

We reached Badrinath, Uttarakhand at 4:30PM, till then it was raining there and totally covered with clouds leading to very minimum visibility. In Badrinath, there are two-three parking were you can park your car for the days you are going to be in Badrinath. Since Amit, was there for the third time, he has the idea about the parking which was hardly 500mts from the Main Mandir and also free of cost. We parked our car there and rushed to find a good accommodation and food.

Amit, booked Bharamkamal Dharamshala which was just opposite to the Temple and from where the Mandir was perfectly visible. Our accommodation was very reasonable and quite maintained. Just washrooms can be better but still, I was amazed at the thought of how they managed everything at such a great height. Brahma kamal is a budgeted accommodation with all the basic facilities.

After, keeping our luggage in the room we went for food/ dinner at Saket hotel. The Saket hotel was recommended by nearby shopkeepers as having good and variety of food. The food quality was average, somewhat overpriced. Since we haven’t taken anything after the breakfast so were super hungry and therefore attacked food like anything. We ordered and eat everything from South Indian to Continental.

The dinner has given us a satisfaction, which was a major missing since morning. We returned to our room in Brahamkaml to have rest but there only someone told us that temple closes at 8:30 PM. So we thought of rushing to the temple instead of taking rest so as to have Darshan of Badri Vishal at first.

From our stay to Badri Vishal temple there was hardly any distance. I was only a bridge in between. It was raining and we were feeling cold too. The river Alaknanda was in its full swing and making roars like a lioness. At first, I was scared to look down from the hotel balcony because of the high waves but sooner realize, Alaknanda river is our mother only.

We entered the temple and had to wait for 15 minutes as Bhog was being served to the deities. Then we were to enter the main Temple where Arti was done. Unlike any other Hindu temple, in Badrivishal, pundits were not keen to extract money from the pilgrims. Also not asking for the money for Tika to Prasad.

We had an amazing darshan as there was literally no crowd due to offseason. Temple is beautiful with mesmerizing deities of Narayana ( Vishnu God ) and Nar ( human being). We then went for bathing in Tapt kund. I was quite surprised to see the boiling water from a pond. At first was not able to bath as the water of Tapt kund was super hot but soon started loving it and we enjoyed it thoroughly.
